Part Time Account Clerk – City Auditor’s Office

 The City of Circleville, Auditor’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Account Clerk I. This is is a part-time position that requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid drivers’ license. Rate of pay is between $14.64 to $17.568 per hour based on experience.  Work week is based on 24 hours per week or as needed basis.  Benefits are not offered.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: answering department telephone; operating a personal computer;  preparing vouchers, purchase orders, requisitions, and payments; reviewing and updating accounts payable procedures; assisting with income tax payments, filings and other relevant income tax services; scanning vouchers, purchase orders, and other documentation; preparing notices, correspondence and letters.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office will be a weighing factor.

The qualified candidate will demonstrate the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with city officials, co-workers and the general public. Accuracy and attention to detail are required. The successful candidate must demonstrate professionalism, organizational skills and regular predictable attendance.  Basic math skills are used on a daily basis. Employment Application Rev. 3-2023

 

The City of Circleville is accepting applications for the position of Wastewater Operator within the Department of Public Utilities. This is a full-time position that requires a high school diploma or equivalent and possession of a valid Ohio drivers’ license with the ability to meet the City of Circleville’s requirements for insurability.

 

Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages are used regularly.  Employees are required to complete and pass a basic wastewater class and obtain a Class I Wastewater Works Operator License issued by the Ohio EPA within two (2) years of employment.

 

Applicants shall have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally; ability to work in adverse weather conditions and on rough terrain; ability to climb ladders and steps; work in confined spaces and be able to work while wearing an SCBA. Knowledge of and the ability to operate power hand tools and equipment, trucks, tractors, front end and skid loaders, mowers and hand trucks is desired.

 

The City of Circleville offers an attractive benefit package that includes health, dental, vision and life insurance after 30 days of service and membership in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System. Entry level salary is $19.2099 per hour with an increase to $21.0224 per hour after 6 months of service and is based on a 40-hour work week with occasional overtime and scheduled weekend work. Operators work a varied weekly schedule of 10 hour shifts between the hours of 6 AM to 10 PM.

Job Classification: Entry Level Communications Officer (Safety Forces Dispatcher) – Full Time
Minimum Score Requirements: Call Taker 53%, Notes 64%, Dispatch 45%    After obtaining the minimum score in each category, candidates are ranked based on the weighted score.

Department Overview:  A Communications Officer runs the Police Department’s Communication Center that is the nerve center of the Police Department. The Communications Officer answers incoming calls for services from the public, documents the calls and notifies the appropriate resource to provide the service necessary. The Communications Officer dispatches calls for service to patrol officers in the field; receives communications from and provides support to the officers in the field; keeps track of the location and status of all officers on duty; and prepares and maintains records of their activities.

Hiring Process:

The City of Circleville is accepting lateral transfer applicants for the position of Police Officer and Communications Officer.  Please review the requirements listed below then scroll down for the lateral transfer packet. 
Lateral transfer applicants are not required to take the entry-level National Testing Network examination. All lateral transfer applicants shall successfully complete the background investigation prior to being considered for a lateral transfer.
Lateral transfer applicants shall successfully complete the required FTO program, including a comprehensive review and understanding of Circleville Police Department standard operating policies and procedures and City of Circleville policies and procedures in addition to successful completion of a 12-month probationary period. Seniority is determined by date of hire with the City of Circleville. Wages and vacation accrual are determined by the collective bargaining agreement.
Police Officer
1. Each applicant must be 21 years of age.
2. Each applicant must be currently Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certified as an Ohio Peace Officer as defined in Chapter 109 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
3. Each applicant must be currently working or have worked within the past twelve (12) months, as a full-time OPOTA certified Ohio Peace Officer in a jurisdiction in the State of Ohio as defined in Section 109.71 of the Ohio Revised Code. (Duties not considered for lateral transfer purposes: Deputy/Officer in a jail/prison setting, volunteer reserve or auxiliary police officer, military police officer, district attorney investigator, part-time employment, time spent in the police academy)
Communication Officer
1. Each applicant must be 18 years of age.
2. Each applicant must be currently working or have worked within the past twelve (12) months, as a full-time Communications Officer/911 Dispatcher.

Circleville City Council is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Assistant Clerk of Council. The Assistant Clerk is responsible for keeping the proceedings of city council and other city boards and commissions as needed and ensures the responsibilities of the City are carried out in a prompt, efficient, courteous and lawful manner.

This position requires professionalism, strong organizational skills, knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and an ability to work effectively with the public, city employees and public officials. The assistant clerk records, maintains and files accurate meeting records and prepares agendas, reports, and public documents. The assistant clerk may also fill in for the council clerk in his/her absence.

Rate of pay for this part-time position is $14.64 per hour to $16.00 per hour. Benefits are not offered. This position requires 20 to 25 hours per month. The successful applicant should be available to attend evening meetings 4 to 6 times per month.  On-the-job training is provided. The successful candidate will serve a 6-month probationary period during which performance will be evaluated.
