Job Classification: Entry Level Communications Officer (Safety Forces Dispatcher) – Full Time
Minimum Score Requirements: Call Taker 53%, Notes 64%, Dispatch 45%    After obtaining the minimum score in each category, candidates are ranked based on the weighted score.
Please read the following information carefully. The City of Circleville is establishing an eligibility list for entry level full-time Communications Officer.  Candidates meeting the minimum requirements of the position may be invited, in groups of ten (10) starting at the top of the eligibility list, to complete an employment application and the City of Circleville Personal History Questionnaire following the closing of the testing period and certification of the eligibility list
Deadline for submitting your score to the City of Circleville is April 4, 2023.  Scores submitted after deadline will not be considered for this testing period.
Veteran’s Credit: After obtaining the minimum score in each category, Veteran’s credit of 20% (required by state law), will be granted to those individuals who show certified proof of Honorable Discharge pursuant to state law and the Local Rules of the Circleville Service Commission prior to the close of the application period. Email a copy of certified proof to: vdilley@circlevilleoh.gov by April 4, 2023 to qualify for the bonus.
Salary Information: Effective January 1, 2023, entry level is $20.58 per hour with an increase to $22.41 per hour after one year of employment.
Benefit Information: Health, dental, vision and life benefits are offered after 30 days of service as well as membership in the Ohio Public Employee’s Retirement System. Paid vacation offered after 12 months of service.
Department Overview:  A Communications Officer runs the Police Department’s Communication Center that is the nerve center of the Police Department. The Communications Officer answers incoming calls for services from the public, documents the calls and notifies the appropriate resource to provide the service necessary. The Communications Officer dispatches calls for service to patrol officers in the field; receives communications from and provides support to the officers in the field; keeps track of the location and status of all officers on duty; and prepares and maintains records of their activities.
