The City of Circleville is accepting applications for the position of Water Plant Operator within the Department of Public Utilities. This is a full-time position that requires a high school diploma or equivalent and possession of a valid Ohio drivers’ license with the ability to meet the City of Circleville’s requirements for insurability.
Mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages and basic algebra are used on a daily basis; some mechanical aptitude is required and knowledge of the tools used to make repairs to plant equipment. The Water Plant Operator must be able to work with little or no supervision and is required to obtain a Class I Operator Water Supply license issued by the Ohio EPA within one (1) year of employment.
Applicants shall have the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally; ability to work in adverse weather conditions and on rough terrain; ability to climb ladders and steps; work in confined spaces and be able to work while wearing an SCBA. Knowledge of and the ability to operate power hand tools and equipment, trucks, tractors, front end and skid loaders, mowers and hand trucks is desired.
The City of Circleville offers an attractive benefit package that includes health, dental, vision and life insurance after 30 days of service and membership in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System. Entry level salary is $19.8754 per hour with an increase to $21.8298 per hour after 6 months of service and is based on a 40-hour work week with occasional overtime and scheduled weekend work. Operators work a varied weekly schedule, including weekends, of 8-hour shifts between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM.
